My First-Year Experience – by Tapsoba Oceanne

Hello. First of all, congratulations and welcome to college! My name is Tapsoba Oceanne, and this is my first-year experience at Lehman College. So, I'm in the middle of my first semester, and it has been good so far, everyday I'm walking in the class with my cup of coffee I'm a coffee girl . I'm trying to be more involved in class, participate, if you don't like to talk try it may surprise you and ask for help when I need it. Don't be afraid—it's normal not to understand everything right away. Getting to know your college is really important everyday after class I just walk outside find a place sit in try to do my homework. I didn’t want to go to the campus  library at first, but when I visited —oh my god—it’s so beautiful and quiet. I love working there while listening to music. The most important thing I learned is do not skip class. College isn’t like high school—they’re not waiting for you. Every day you’re learning something new, everyday have is own discussion so keep showing up. And if you really can’t make it to class, let your professor know. Get tutoring if you need it .
